Former Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone arrived in Austria as a guest and expressed his support for FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem.

Bernie Ecclestone: "I'm trying to remember what he did wrong, and it's not easy. He is trying to work honestly and modernly. Unfortunately, as in all such matters, it's impossible to be right all the time; I don't see anything he shouldn't have done, although there are a couple of points that I hope will be resolved in the future.

He has a difficult job; he inherited something he had no connection to, he was elected to carry out tasks he wasn't even aware of. He had no idea about this job, gradually figuring out what needed to be done and what didn't. Financially, he has done excellently.

He is restoring the FIA's former status. There is no reason to consider it a crime if they make money from it. To sustain the organization, finances are needed; they are also necessary for all other matters, to help the clubs. But he doesn't take money for himself, he doesn't pursue his financial interests; he does everything for the sport he is involved in.

      I believe Formula 1 needs a three-liter engine. It doesn't matter if it's a V8, V10, or V12 – it's the right decision that will satisfy everyone."
