Norris: We are realists, but we look to the future with optimism.
Lando Norris, McLaren driver and reigning world champion, was one of the participants in the FIA press conference in Silverstone, especially since he won the British Grand Prix exactly a year ago. He does not promise to repeat this success, but believes that his team will be able to fight for podiums and victories this year.
Lando Norris: "Competing at home in front of the British crowd is always amazing! With each year spent in Formula 1, everything just gets better and more interesting, and your army of fans grows. The Silverstone circuit is exactly the place where you truly feel all of this. It's impossible not to see it and not to feel it, and I feel like I'm ready to compete here forever.
When I became world champion, I started being noticed more often on the streets and all that. Whether I'm destined to win just one title, or five, or ten, I don't want to change anything – I have an incredibly interesting life, and I actually think I'm very lucky.
We have a good car, so I have an optimistic mindset, as I know that the whole team supports me, and I know what results McLaren is capable of achieving. I don't even need to know what the theoretical standings are, as I have no doubt that our team can turn the situation around and win the championship.
At a later stage of the season, we are preparing to introduce a number of technical innovations that will allow us to drive more confidently, fight for podiums and victories. We are realists, and we are fully aware of the positions we currently occupy, but we look to the future with optimism."
