Windows: Our strong point is good starts
Esteban Ocon is looking forward to the weekend in Silverstone with more optimism than his teammate...
Esteban Ocon: "I’m fine, I feel good, ready for the start of the weekend. The weather this weekend is sunny – it couldn’t be better. We will do everything possible to ensure the car is in perfect condition and as competitive as possible. We are focused on maximizing its potential.
Our strength is good starts. We optimally distribute energy, and I have always started well.
This weekend we will continue to look for the source of the problems that have arisen. We have a different rear wing and a different floor with us. We are trying to find the cause. The problem has been observed for several races, and the team is working hard. Only three or four days have passed since the last race. We don’t have answers yet, but we are searching.
My car lacks grip on the driving wheels. I can’t use as steep an angle of the rear wing as I would like. My balance is more shifted towards the rear axle compared to Berman. This is especially noticeable in the races. The tires wear out very quickly. I try to conserve them as much as possible, but if I start to attack, they literally get destroyed. In Barcelona, I had to make one more pit stop than everyone else. In Austria, we didn’t do that, but it was very difficult to keep the car on the track.
I manage to cope with this somewhat on a single lap in qualifying, even if the result is far from optimal, but in the race, I lose a lot because of this."
