The pilots' parade will take place in cars made of Lego.
At Silverstone during the Drivers' Parade, participants of the British Grand Prix will drive a lap around the track in cars made from Lego, as announced today by the Formula 1 press service.
This approach was successfully tested for the first time last year in Miami, and the experience was so successful that it was decided to repeat it, but at a new level.
The design and assembly of these electric cars took 6,400 hours of work from 20 specialists from the famous Danish company, as each one consists of more than 28,000 parts. It is reported that the work was carried out at the Lego Group factory in the Czech city of Kladno.
According to long-standing tradition, the parade will take place before the race, and the audience will see all the drivers from all 11 teams on the track. However, while in May 2025, two drivers rode in a Lego-built car, now each will have their own. Naturally, the cars will be in the colors of their respective teams, with the drivers' numbers clearly visible on them.
The car weighs approximately 280 kg, of which 65 kg are the plastic parts, and it can accelerate to 25 km/h. They are fitted with standard wheels from go-karts.
Emily Preiser, Chief Commercial Officer of Formula 1: "Last year in Miami, the Drivers' Parade featured large cars made from Lego, and it became one of the most memorable events of the season, talked about for a long time. It attracted the attention of fans worldwide and showcased another side of our sport.
This year, we decided to build on that success and create an exciting spectacle for fans, both in the stands at the racetrack and watching the British Grand Prix on TV.
When we combine Formula 1 and the Lego gaming world, we truly create something new, infused with creativity, innovation, and entertainment that excites fans of all ages."
