Domenicali prepared to talk about maintaining Silverstone 'forever'
"There is no alternative location in the UK"
Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali has expressed his readiness to discuss the possibility of extending Silverstone’s presence on the calendar beyond its current long-term agreement. Silverstone secured a new 10-year deal in 2024, ensuring the British Grand Prix will take place until 2034. However, in an interview with the Daily Mail, Domenicali indicated that Silverstone might have an even longer future in Formula 1. "I am open to discussions about that," he remarked when asked about a deal to keep Silverstone permanently. "It’s simply a matter of sitting down and establishing the right conditions. Silverstone deserves to remain on the calendar. It’s forever."
Domenicali emphasized that no other British circuit is equipped to host Formula 1. "There is no other venue in the UK, not Brands Hatch or Donington, that meets the necessary capacity for Formula 1. We are too large." This weekend's British GP is anticipated to draw a record 565,000 attendees over four days, including 175,000 on race day alone. "They are effectively managing logistical challenges with such a large crowd – it's a nice challenge to have," Domenicali stated. "They cannot rely solely on their history, but in recent years they have recognized the importance of offering the best experience possible for fans. It is one of the most incredible places to witness the passion for motorsport. You feel exhilarated, regardless of your nationality."
