Toto Wolff: I was misunderstood
Commenting on the constant updates being prepared for their car at Ferrari, Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff questioned live whether Ferrari would run out of funds under budget constraints, considering the updates in Miami and Barcelona, as well as the engine upgrade in Austria.
Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur responded to Toto at the FIA press conference on Friday: "When Red Bull or Mercedes is developing, they are geniuses. But when we are developing, we are cheating."
In the end, Toto Wolff stated on Sky Sport F1 that he was not trying to criticize Ferrari...
Toto Wolff: "Frederic is very emotional; if he had read my comment and not just the headline, he would have understood that I was merely making an observation. I said it would be interesting to see how many updates could be released by the end of the season.
It's just emotions that are inherent in all of us, a passion for the success of our team. I was misunderstood. In this case, that is not what I meant."
