Arvid Lindblad: I don't really like to spin "doughnuts."
Arvid Lindblad is participating in the Goodwood Festival of Speed for the first time as a Racing Bulls driver, but this weekend he has to pilot not only a Formula 1 car but also, for example, a Ford Mustang from the Australian V8 Supercars series. At the same time, the 18-year-old Brit confessed at a fan meeting that he doesn't particularly enjoy the activity that the public loves the most – i.e., smoking tires and doing "donuts." Arvid Lindblad: "To be honest, I don't really like this side of such festivals because it requires specific skills. When we drive cars in races, we are used to pushing ourselves as close to the limit as possible, whereas here you have to try harder to please the audience. After all, this is primarily a show, and I'm not particularly talented at 'donuts,' as these are not the skills I've been training for the past ten years. So here, many other people explain to me how it's done. You could say I get more nervous when doing 'donuts' than when racing – out of fear of doing something wrong! (laughs) But overall, the atmosphere here is wonderful, and I enjoy participating in such a vibrant event, especially since it takes place shortly after my first home British Grand Prix, which I have dreamed of for so long. I have never heard such incredible noise produced by the fans in the stands, and I experienced such emotions and impressions for the first time!" When Arvid was asked which of the drivers he competes against has played an important role in his career, pushing him to work harder, hone his skills, and strive for high results, he named Kimi Antonelli: "I am lucky; right now, we are seeing a new wave of young drivers who have come to Formula 1 after Lando Norris, Charles Leclerc, Max Verstappen, Alex Albon, and George Russell. Last year, five rookies joined the championship, and now there are several drivers in Formula 3 and Formula 2 whom we will also see in F1 in the coming years. Kimi Antonelli is one of the drivers who pushed me the most and with whom I enjoyed competing. He is a year older than me, so we only raced together in karting for a couple of years, but it was really fun. Another driver, with whom we are also great friends, is Nikola Tsolov, who is leading the Formula 2 standings. He is very good, and I really hope he gets the chance to move up to F1. We have competed against each other many times, and because of him, I have always tried to become better."
