Cadillac F1 will test a new front wing in Spa.
At Cadillac F1, they believe that the team is gradually progressing, and a sign of this is the fact that in Silverstone both of their cars completed the entire distance of both the Saturday sprint and the British Grand Prix. Preparing for the upcoming Belgian stage of the championship, the team is set to continue this positive trend, especially since important aerodynamic updates will be introduced on the cars of Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas. First and foremost, this concerns a new front wing.
Graham Loudon, team principal: “The British stage went very positively for us. In Silverstone, we fully completed the distances of the sprint and the Grand Prix, and this was another step forward in our development, for which I want to thank the whole team.
However, it is even more pleasant that we were able to push forward, even though we started from the back rows, and truly compete with other teams. We would like to continue this in the upcoming weekend in Belgium.
Sergio Perez: “After a decent performance in Silverstone, we are ready for the stage in Spa, where we will face completely different challenges compared to any other track on the calendar. Not only because the lap length there is much longer – when I race at this circuit, my heart beats a little faster.
It is a very fast track, and an unusual moment is that when passing Eau Rouge, the driver experiences negative G-forces. It will also be interesting to check what approach we need to take in managing energy, when choosing the ride height, and working with tires – we will tackle all of this on Friday, as well as analyze the behavior of the technical updates prepared by the team for this stage.”
Valtteri Bottas: “In Silverstone, we completed the entire distance, and I felt that we are progressing both in terms of reliability and competitiveness. Now I want to see how much we have advanced over the last couple of weeks.
During the Belgian weekend, we need to work hard to fully unlock the potential of the car. It is believed that in Spa everything depends on speed, although in reality, it is not only about that.
At this track, it is important to achieve confidence behind the wheel to take corners at the maximum possible speed, as well as to attack the curbs at full throttle. A huge amount of work is being done at the team base to ensure that from the very beginning of the weekend, the basic settings of the MAC-26 are at a good level – then we can effectively conduct the practices and continue to progress.”
