Steiner believes that Russell may move to Audi.
While Formula 1 drivers enjoy their vacation, Guenther Steiner is spreading a fresh wave of rumors. The former team principal of Haas believes that George Russell is considering options to move from Mercedes to another team, and Audi could be an attractive option for him.
"Many drivers are showing interest in moving to Audi in 2028," Steiner shared his opinion on The Red Flags podcast. "For next season, the team lineup is almost determined, but in 2028, there may be a vacancy.
It's a very interesting option because Audi has made good progress. It seems that the team is moving in the right direction. I think there will be quite a few interested parties, and Carlos Sainz is definitely one of them.
I think George Russell is also looking at other options right now. I believe he doesn't want to spend his entire career alongside Kimi Antonelli because he understands what his position in the team would be then. So he is looking for new opportunities."
Assessing George's prospects of winning the title this season, Guenther Steiner was categorical: "I give that scenario a 5% chance."
