Elbon: We need more time to take the lead.

      Williams driver Alex Albon acknowledged that the team will need more time than expected to become leaders in Formula 1. According to Alex, a year ago he hoped that by 2027, Williams would be able to regularly compete for podiums, but the events of the current season have forced a reassessment of those expectations. The transition to the new technical regulations in 2026 has revealed a number of serious issues, the resolution of which will take more time.

      Alex Albon: "It feels like we have gone back two or three years. Just last season, I thought that by 2027 we would be able to regularly compete for podiums, sometimes for wins, stop being a midfield team, and get closer to the four leaders of the championship, but now it is becoming clear that this path will take more time.

      Part of the problem is that we have fallen behind and have found ourselves in a chasing role since the beginning of the season, and the new regulations have highlighted our weaknesses. We have seen that we have many more issues to resolve than we previously thought, and the team is currently focused on that.

      Of course, what is happening is disappointing for all of us. But we can only continue to work and accept that returning to the leaders will take more time than we expected."
