Formula 1 reported record statistics
Formula 1 drivers and teams are dissatisfied with the new generation of cars – their criticism is mainly directed at the power units with a strong electric component, and the championship organizers had to take emergency measures to somehow change the situation.
However, all of this does not affect the popularity of the championship – according to the official statistics for the first half of the season reported by Formula 1, there is a steady increase in viewer interest across all key indicators.
According to forecasts, the global audience of Formula 1 will exceed 830 million in 2026 – this is 64% more than in 2018, i.e., the first full year when the championship changed owners. By the end of 2025, the worldwide army of fans had already reached 827 million.
As in the previous year, 43% of the audience are people under 35 years old. The share of women remains at 43%, while among new fans of Formula 1, three-quarters are female.
All 11 completed stages of the season have been sold out. It is reported that during these 11 race weekends at the circuits hosting the Grand Prix, there were 3.7 million spectators. In the same period last year, there were 3.4 million.
Record attendance was recorded at the stages in Australia, Canada, Austria, the United Kingdom, Belgium, and Hungary. Only in Silverstone, 564,000 people attended the circuit over the weekend. The audience for the Japanese Grand Prix grew the most – by 18%.
Despite the mixed feelings about the changes happening in Formula 1 in 2026, surveys regularly conducted by the championship organizers show that 60% of participants rate the level of spectacle of the races as good or excellent.
