IndyCar: Mick Schumacher is on the list of candidates for a seat at MSR

      In his debut season in IndyCar, Mick Schumacher is racing for the Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing team, but next year they plan to field only two cars. Meanwhile, the contracts of Graham Rahal and Louis Foster for 2027 have already been confirmed – consequently, the son of the seven-time world champion will lose his place.

      However, this does not mean that Mick's career in the overseas series will end after one season: according to Racer, the Meyer Shank Racing (MSR) team is interested in his services. Schumacher's "stock" has significantly risen in value over the past few weeks: at the July event in Nashville, he finished in the top ten for the first time this season, taking 8th place.

      Moreover, he excelled on the oval track, which confirmed not only his speed but also his bravery. However, his results on road and street circuits have so far left much to be desired, but he has a chance to rectify this in the upcoming weekend at the Portland International Raceway in Oregon.

      Additionally, rumors suggest that Schumacher has managed to secure the support of a powerful sponsor, whose name has not yet been disclosed, and this could also be an important factor in negotiations with MSR.

      It is worth noting that New Zealand driver Marcus Armstrong, whom Mick knows from Formula 2, races for this team. Of course, this cannot be considered a serious argument, and primarily MSR will be monitoring Schumacher's results in the remaining six races of the season.

      As the author of the text notes on the pages of Racer, the team management is in no rush, and among their candidates are drivers such as Brazilian Chao Collet and Norwegian Dennis Hauger. Like Schumacher, they were rookies this season, but the former is one position above Mick in the standings, while the latter is four positions ahead.

      Furthermore, there are several promising drivers in the Indy NXT youth series, so Mick's task now is to try not only to maintain the level he has managed to reach by the end of the season but also to build on his initial success.
