Red Bull has appointed McCullough to take over from Lambiase.

      Red Bull is reportedly gearing up for another significant technical hire, as Aston Martin veteran Tom McCullough is set to become its new head of race engineering. It has already been revealed that McCullough will depart Aston Martin at the conclusion of 2026 after spending over ten years with the Silverstone-based team. He was reassigned from the main Formula 1 program in early 2025 during a management reorganization, with Mike Krack taking over his trackside responsibilities. Recently, Bild journalist Michel Milewski has reported that McCullough’s next stop is Red Bull.

      "According to information from Bild, Tom McCullough is on track to become the new 'Head of Race Engineering'," he stated. "He would oversee all operational activities at the racetrack and coordinate the engineers' work during the Grands Prix.” This position is currently held by Gianpiero Lambiase, who also serves as Max Verstappen’s race engineer. Lambiase has already signed on with McLaren and could potentially step up to team principal in the future. "’GP’ is moving to McLaren," wrote Milewski. "The close associate of Verstappen has already inked a deal with the historic British team and is reportedly in line for a long-term role as team principal." McCullough’s potential joining would further continue Red Bull’s management transformation following Dr. Helmut Marko’s retirement and the recent hiring of Gwen Lagrue to oversee the junior program.
