Lightning McQueen signed a contract with Formula 1!
The champion of the "Piston Cup," the main character of the animated film "Cars," Lightning McQueen, will become the new face of Disney's collaboration with Formula 1 – the parties have extended their commercial agreement until 2028.
The agreement, titled "Fuel the Magic," came into effect in 2025 and has primarily involved Mickey Mouse and his friends until now. This extension marks the first addition of the "Cars" franchise to the world of Formula 1.
The first products from the new "Cars" and Formula 1 collection will be available today in the Disney online store. Among them are an exclusive cap, a fleece jacket, and car models from Mattel.
The international launch of the program is scheduled for August 27, after which the new collection will be available at the official Formula 1 store in Monza, where an official presentation will take place in conjunction with the Italian Grand Prix.
It is in Monza that Lightning McQueen will also make his debut. The champion of the "Piston Cup" will appear on the track in Monza in a special livery as part of the celebration of the twentieth anniversary of the animated film "Cars."
