      Acura has introduced some exceptional vehicles this year to celebrate its 40th anniversary, with the highlight of the festivities arriving at the 2026 Monterey Car Week, where it revealed the Acura Nexera Vision concept.

      When I initially remarked to an Acura representative about the Nexera Vision potentially representing the NSX, the response was, “Well, does it look like an NSX?” Fair point. The official stance is that this eye-catching concept serves as a design study forecasting the brand's future exterior and interior styles—beginning with the forthcoming 4th-generation RDX crossover, expected to debut “in the coming years.”

      The two-door concept evokes a Lamborghini feel—albeit with less assertiveness and a more refined aura—crafted at the Acura Design California studio in Los Angeles under the direction of Yasutake Tsuchida, the new Acura Creative Director and Vice President of Auto Design.

      “We are leveraging Acura's 40th anniversary as a launching pad for our future, with the Acura Nexera Vision embodying the design language for upcoming Acura models,” stated Yasutake Tsuchida, Acura Creative Director and Vice President of Auto Design. “Our ambition with this new design approach is to articulate Acura performance through precise proportions, sculpted forms, and the seamless melding of advanced technology, creating a representation that is both forward-thinking and true to the brand.”

      **Exterior**

      Butterfly doors are a rarity on Honda or Acura models, and that's because it's never occurred before. Thus, the Nexera Vision certainly makes a statement from the outset. While it's improbable that this feature will reach production cars, one can never be sure. Another intriguing aspect is the car's active aerodynamics, which Acura did not elaborate on, but they did discuss a feature known as “phantom lighting.”

      This method accentuates the car's distinct surface details and emphasizes its sharp design, complementing the new A-shaped, ultra-thin headlights and taillights, which Acura has confirmed will be present in future production models, starting with the RDX. They remind me of the taillights found on the Alpine WEC Hypercar.

      The concept is fitted with 22-inch center-lock wheels, a first for Acura, and high-performance carbon-ceramic Brembo brakes.

      **Interior**

      The driver-centric cockpit features a fixed driver’s seat that positions the driver lower, while, similar to many contemporary supercars, the pedal box and steering wheel arrangements can slide forward and backward to suit the driver's height and preference.

      The black-and-white interior showcases sustainable materials and forged carbon, combined with gloss-black finishes and high-contrast pink accents. These materials include recycled aluminum, Alcantara with certified post-consumer recycled polyester, and CircuLeather, a genuine leather alternative aimed at supporting a more circular lifecycle.

      “Emphasizing sustainability is becoming increasingly vital in defining premium quality and performance, and the Acura brand is incorporating innovative material technologies that enhance the customer experience while aligning with broader environmental goals,” Tsuchida added. “These improvements help diminish the carbon footprint tied to our products and create new avenues to challenge traditional notions of quality, inspiring a fresh perspective on what premium can be.”
