Cadillac has unveiled the V-One concept car.

Last week, Cadillac attracted attention when it hinted that it was preparing to unveil a concept car based on the V-Series.R sports prototype, which has been quite successful in endurance racing on both sides of the Atlantic.

Today, this event took place during the automotive festival in Monterey, California: the impressive V-One concept car was revealed to the world. While this is just a project for now, Dominique Najafi, the chief designer of Cadillac, assures that the new development from the American brand is a "clear sign that demonstrates our intention to further develop the V-Series brand in the future."

However, unlike its competitors in the WEC, such as Ferrari, Porsche, and Aston Martin, Cadillac has not announced any plans for even small-scale production of the V-One. Still, since the unique concept car has already been presented, one can assume that a next step will eventually be taken.

Externally, the V-One closely resembles the V-Series.R hypercars, which are well-known to endurance racing fans – the silhouette is almost the same. The car features a characteristic low-mounted rear wing and a massive vertical "fin" on the engine cover.

The cockpit interior is quite restrained, but still not as Spartan as that of a racing car, and the carbon surfaces have received a more appealing finish.

The chassis, produced by Dallara, is equipped with the same atmospheric 5.5-liter V8 engine; however, it has different settings and, in combination with a hybrid system, is expected to deliver around 830 hp. According to the creators of the V-One, such a car should complete a lap on the track in a time that is no more than 10% slower than that of a racing hypercar.

Whether the project will receive further development, and if so, what that will entail, remains unclear – it is likely that the company will announce its plans later, especially since Cadillac has never had similar cars, essentially racing vehicles adapted for public road use, in its production lineup.
