Marcin Budkowski talked about the first steps in Cadillac.

Marcin Budkowski, who replaced Graham Loudon as the head of the Cadillac team, spoke about the first steps he plans to take in this position. According to the Polish specialist, he intends to carefully study the team's operations and eliminate any possible misunderstandings between the staff working at the base and on the track.

Marcin Budkowski: "My main task in the beginning will be to listen and observe. I need to get to know the people at the base, understand how they work, how they interact with each other, and how different employees and departments collaborate.

Over the years of working in Formula 1, I have realized that reliability issues that Cadillac faced in the first half of the season can create a serious risk of losing connection between the team on the track and the base, and this connection needs to be very strong in any Formula 1 team.

That’s why I will divide my first working week between the base and the track in Zandvoort. I want to see both sides of the team and understand how they interact with each other. In the short term, this will be the main priority – to listen, observe, and ensure that the two divisions work as a single team.

When there are 24 races on the calendar, the staff at the base and those working on the track do not see each other as often, which often becomes a problem. When the Formula 1 calendar had 16 races and teams were significantly smaller, employees spent much more time together at the base. Now everything is different, but the connection between them is still very important, especially at this stage of the team's development.

In the remaining races this year, of which there are still quite a few, we need to thoroughly study the organization, the workflows, the tools we have, and what we are lacking. I think General Motors has a lot to offer in this regard, as they have accumulated a vast amount of technical knowledge and have many tools that are not yet being used to their full potential. At the same time, it should be understood that just a few months ago, the team was essentially created from scratch.

There are many technical specialists in the USA. After all, Americans send spacecraft to Mars. I think we can make much more active use of the opportunities we have on the other side of the Atlantic. But this will not happen instantly, so it will take time.

At the same time, it would be foolish not to pay attention to the talents and technical expertise that we have in the USA."
