Hamilton reportedly poised to prolong his contract with Ferrari.
"Take note of it today"
Lewis Hamilton is anticipated to prolong his stay with Ferrari until 2027, with Spanish Formula 1 journalist Carlos Miquel suggesting that an announcement could be made before the Monza race. Speaking on El Partidazo de COPE, Miquel indicated that the future of the seven-time world champion is practically determined. "Remember this name; he is certainly going to renew his contract with his current team: Lewis Hamilton with Ferrari," he stated. "Take note of it today, as they are likely to announce it just ahead of Monza."
Hamilton's initial agreement with Ferrari was believed to have a 2-plus-1 structure, and the additional season is now expected to be activated. Eurosport Italia also reports that Hamilton will continue with Ferrari at least until 2027, with official confirmation anticipated during the Italian GP weekend. Miquel believes this extension will secure most of the major teams, especially since Verstappen has alleviated uncertainty by committing to Red Bull through 2030.
Upon arriving at Zandvoort, Hamilton mentioned he feels fitter than ever and increasingly optimistic about Ferrari’s progress. "The pieces of the puzzle have come together," said the 41-year-old. "A lot of changes have taken place in engineering, processes, and car design, and overall, we’re heading in the right direction." He added, "They’ve delivered on my requests, and the results reflect that it’s all functioning well. Last year, I consistently stated that Ferrari needed to be more innovative."
When asked about Verstappen's new contract, Hamilton remarked that staying with Red Bull made sense. "He’s with an excellent team," the Briton noted. "He’s been there for a long time, and they continue to achieve success. It’s always easy to choose to remain in a comfortable environment. It’s his decision, and it’s certainly a wise one."
