Ralf Schumacher has stated that he will still be present in the Formula 1 paddock at Monza, despite experiencing a painful shoulder injury during a televised celebrity jet-ski event in Germany. The former F1 driver dislocated his right shoulder while attempting to flip over the jet ski after falling into the water, and scans later revealed a small piece of bone had broken away.
"I am currently heading to Austria, where I will undergo surgery on my right shoulder on Monday," Schumacher informed Bild. "The shoulder is hurting constantly, but it should improve after the operation."
He mentioned that doctors anticipate a full recovery will take five or six months, yet his duties with Sky Deutschland will resume shortly thereafter. "I can manage that," he said with a smile. "I just need to hold the microphone with my left hand."
"After the surgery, I’ll stay in the hospital overnight before traveling to Monza on Thursday." Schumacher also cleared the organizers of any blame. "Perhaps I’m just too old for this kind of nonsense," remarked the German. "The organizers are completely innocent, and if there’s another event, I’ll certainly participate again."
In other news, former Ferrari driver Jean Alesi has married his new partner Ania in Marina del Cantone on Italy’s Sorrento Peninsula, as reported by Corriere della Sera. Approximately 100 guests were present at the ceremony, including Alain Prost.
