This Friday at the Laguna Seca racetrack in California, a ceremonial event will take place where the famous Corkscrew turn will be renamed in honor of Alex Zanardi, in memory of the brave Italian who passed away in early May. The famous combination of turns 8 and 8A, which is considered one of the most challenging in motorsport due to the significant elevation change and blind apex, will receive the dual name Zanardi Corkscrew – it was there in 1996 on the last lap of the CART 1996 race that Alex overtook Bryan Herta, taking the lead.
