Komatsu on why only Berman received the new engine.

      Haas F1 team principal Ayo Komatsu explained on Friday why only Oliver Berman received the new Ferrari power unit, which was upgraded for the Monza race, in his team.

      According to the contract, Ferrari is obliged to supply new parts to all its customers, but there simply aren't enough components available yet, so Cadillac and Haas received only one new engine each. In Haas F1, it went to Berman.

      Ayo Komatsu: "We took into account many factors, including Berman's higher points tally against Ocon (18 to 3).

      On the other hand, we updated the brakes first on Esteban's car, which often had them locking up. And the new power steering was first given to Ocon, as he had more issues in that area. So the last two updates went to Esteban. This time it's Ollie's turn.

      Last time we did it differently. We waited until we had enough engines to replace them on both cars at once. But now we are in Monza, where power is very important. It would be a shame to just leave a more powerful engine sitting in the pits, wouldn't it?

But Ferrari is doing everything it can to extract as much power from the engine as possible, and above all, they want to showcase this in Monza. But that means they produced only the minimum amount — just enough to comply with the regulations.
