Horner: All of us in Formula 1 are driven by the fear of failure.
The press service of Ford Performance, the motorsport division of the American corporation, has shared a short video dedicated to Ford's return to Formula 1, which will take place in 2026. In a new round of history, Ford, having joined forces with Red Bull Racing, is cooperating with the engine-building division of the British team created just a few years ago. Everyone understands that this is a complex and extremely expensive project, but in Milton Keynes is not the first time to take on tasks that at first glance seem impossible. When the Austrian company Red Bull in 2005 acquired Jaguar and Minardi, in the success of this project, too, few believed in the success of the project, but now Red Bull Racing - one of the top teams in the world championship, on its account 122 victories, six Constructors' Cups and 8 championship titles.
Let's quote just two heroes of this video, called by its creators "We make history". "All of us in Formula 1 is driven by fear of failure - said Christian Horner, head and CEO of Red Bull Racing. - 'We are hardly underestimating the scale of the challenges we face as a new powertrain manufacturer. I don't think there has been such a radical change in the 70-year history of Formula 1, with a simultaneous transition to new chassis and new engines. Electric technology is being introduced into the internal combustion engine industry and there could be no better partner than Ford for this project. When we see the Ford logo return to Formula 1 and adorn our cars, it will be a moment of real pride for everyone in our organization. Christian Hurtrich, Chief Motoring Officer, Ford Performance: "The challenges here are as complex as the aerospace industry. In motorsport we are used to operating in terms of months and years, but in the world of Red Bull we are talking about hours and days. In this case, we have to solve the most difficult tasks associated with complex geometry of parts, and when we estimate the time for which we can actually solve this or that task, there are problems that we could not foresee. And we have to respond to that, so we've got a lot of Ford engineers working not only in motorsport, but in other parts of the company. They are also working hard to help our project. But we're not just building a powertrain - we're making history!
