F3: Rafael Camara fastest on last day of testing
Formula 3 tests ended in Bahrain today, and on their final day, Rafael Camara, the Brazilian Trident driver, was the fastest, leading in the individual standings of the youth series after the first stage of the season.
Moreover, it was he who rose to the first line of the protocol in both sessions on Friday, and also showed the best test time – 1:48.252. He managed this at the end of the morning session, and in the afternoon he was not much slower – 1:48.673.
Only the Camara was consistently fast both in the morning, when the Formula 3 teams were simulating qualifying, and in the afternoon, while Tim Tramnitz, who plays for MP Motorsport, rose to second place in the first session, and Finn Tuukka Taponen, ART Grand Prix racer, rounded out the top three.
In the second session on Friday, the drivers mostly worked on long series of laps, but at the end of the day they resumed working on the qualifying pace, and in the top three, besides Camara, Callum Voisin, a representative of Rodin Motorsport, and his team-mate Louis Sharp. Both lost to the Brazilian by several tenths, but still less than a second.
The second stage of the season will be held at this track on April 11-13.
