Isaac Hajjar earned his first points in Formula 1
At the Japanese Grand Prix, Isaac Hajjar earned his first points in Formula 1, finishing eighth. His new Racing Bulls teammate Liam Lawson finished the race in seventeenth place, which was his worst result of the season.
Isaac Hajjar (8th): "It was a long and exhausting race, but today I did my best. I think we had a perfect race, so great team work. Eighth place was the goal for today, as Lewis Hamilton was out of reach.
We did everything possible to improve the speed, so the result is deserved, and not a consequence of the problems of the rivals. I couldn't be happier, because I scored my first Formula 1 points at Suzuka after such a weekend. I'm comfortable in the car, and I think it suits me well. There was practically no degradation of the rubber today, so I attacked the whole distance with all my might.
Now all thoughts are on the race in Bahrain next week. Today's result gives us confidence, and I think we can compete in the next stage as well."
Liam Lawson (17th): "First of all, Isaac's great performance. He did a great job and earned his first points in Formula 1.
As for me, the start was difficult, as was the first lap. I drove too far into turn thirteen, and then I was just riding in a "train" of other cars. It was difficult to overtake, but I think the result could have been radically different, given the starting position.
There were some positive moments this weekend. Overall, the car handles well, but it takes me a while to get used to it. Overall, the last few weeks and months have been crazy, and I just want to get into a rhythm and race. Next week is a different type of track where we will continue to make progress."
