Alex Albon on Williams' problems at the beginning of the season

On Thursday, before the start of the weekend in Bahrain, Alex Albon spoke about Williams' problems at the beginning of the season…

Alex Albon: "For a good pace, this car needs certain settings, and they are not always convenient for driving. Our car generates high downforce, but due to balance issues in some corners, we have to change the settings to less optimal ones for the rest of the lap. As a result, on most tracks our car works effectively in a narrow range of conditions and not in all corners. But this is not a new problem, it has been around for many years.

A good example is the race in Japan, where we were seriously behind in some corners, but in the rest of the track we were close to the pace of the leaders. Unfortunately, we can't get one without the other, and that's our main problem.

However, there were more problems a year ago, now the car is much more stable, I feel more confident and it's easier to achieve a good lap time. What makes us most happy is that we are moving in the right direction.

It was cold here during the winter tests, and now it's hot – the behavior of the cars will change. Cooler weather usually helps us, but let's see how things turn out this weekend. The Bahrain stage will be a good test for us. It was cool in the winter tests and in the first three Grands Prix, and this weekend we will find out how much we have improved in such conditions compared to last year. We had a bad weekend in 2024."
