Oliver Berman: I was lucky when the safety car came out

In Bahrain, both Haas F1 cars finished in the top ten, and this is an important achievement for the American team. Esteban Ocon took 8th place, Oliver Berman earned a prize point for 10th. At the same time, the French driver started 14th, regained a couple of positions in the first laps, and then went to a very early pit stop on lap 8, and such aggressive tactics proved effective.

Berman started the race last, but after the first lap he moved up to 14th position, and the team developed an alternative tactic for him, which also worked, thanks to the safety car, and was one of the factors that influenced the result.

Oliver Berman (10th): "The race was great, so the mood is good. In the last 20 laps, after a period when there was a safety car on the track, I had to withstand the pressure when I was attacked by a Mercedes driver (Kimi Antonelli), I tried not to lose my position, but also tried to attack those in front.

In general, it wasn't easy, but I'm happy that I was able to earn an important point for the team after the difficulties that occurred yesterday in qualifying. Of course, I was a little lucky to have a safety car on the track, although I felt really confident in the first leg of the race.

The second leg was more difficult, but we were lucky with the safety car. It wasn't easy to hold the position against faster cars, but I'm happy with how I performed today. The team did a great job too."

Esteban Ocon (8th): "I am very happy for our team, because yesterday I let them down by making a mistake in qualifying, which did not allow us to fully unleash the potential of the car. But today everything turned out as planned.

We got off to a great start and used aggressive tactics, which immediately increased our chances of competing for points. Then we did everything we could, even though we were in an unfavorable position because of the safety car, and Yuki Tsunoda almost overtook us.

Oliver had a great race, coming back from 20th position after the start, so we both scored points. We are happy because we have achieved the best possible result, and I am proud of our achievement."

Ayo Komatsu, team leader: "What a day! I am very happy, especially after the unsuccessful qualifying, but no one gave up. We understood how we had to act today, we knew that the car was capable of good pace, and that both drivers were capable of showing results.

We didn't even dream of scoring points with two cars, but we were proactive, we were convinced that we would succeed, and we weren't afraid of anything.

It's good to see how everyone reacted to yesterday's setback – this is racing, and there are inevitable ups and downs. It's not easy to overcome setbacks and show results like today, but the team has once again demonstrated that it can do it."
