Vettel: It's clear that Hamilton is unhappy with himself right now.
Sebastian Vettel has been driving for Ferrari for six years, knows this team well, and you can probably trust him when he speaks out in defense of Lewis Hamilton, who has been wearing a red uniform since this year.
In his opinion, the seven-time world champion is now making every possible effort to adapt to the SF-25, since the machine built in Maranello differs in character from the equipment familiar to Lewis.
"Of course, this is a big step for him, a big cultural change in general," Vettel told Sky Sports. – And I think that right now he is completely focused on the racing side of things, on the car, on the approaches that it requires, on the feelings that the driver experiences behind the wheel, etc.
But I think that the adaptation process involves more than just piloting itself: we are also talking about a lot of other aspects related to it. For example, if we talk about the steering wheel, then it is absolutely certain that Lewis asked him to redesign it according to his preferences, but the steering wheel is still not the same as he used to work with.
It takes time to really adjust to all this, it takes your head off, even though you used to do it all automatically, without thinking. In general, it is natural that it will take some time.
Of course, I know that Lewis has very high expectations and he wants to succeed. Therefore, it is clear that now he is probably dissatisfied with himself and his level of competitiveness. It can be said that this also affects your psychological state.
But, of course, he did not become one of the most successful racers by chance – it happened for many reasons. I think he's working very hard right now to overcome what's getting in his way. This needs to be done in order to return to the level where he will be able to perform at full strength again and will be satisfied with his results."
