Isaac Hajjar: I am glad that I was able to reach the final
In Miami, Isaac Hajjar was the only one of the Racing Bulls drivers who managed to reach the final in qualifying for the sprint – he showed 9th time. His partner, Liam Lawson, was only 14th.…
Isaac Hajjar (9th): "Another intense qualifying, the very first attempt was unsuccessful – I made a mistake in the last corner, which made me nervous, but we were able to get through to the second session.
But I managed to do a good lap in the second session, and I'm glad I was able to reach the final, even though the results were incredibly tight. I think we managed to start the circle literally at the last second! But I was only two and a half seconds behind Charles Leclair's car, and it wasn't an ideal situation.
But I tried to achieve the best possible result and I think that 9th position is also not bad. Alex Albon starts in front of me in tomorrow's sprint, and to earn at least one point, I have to finish ahead of him.
If I don't manage to get ahead of him at the start, then it will be much more difficult to do it later, because the Williams cars are very fast on the straights, and overtaking on this track is very difficult."
Liam Lawson (14th): "It was a very messy session, the car's behavior was very different from what it was in training. I guess we didn't expect the picture to change so much – we can only regret it, because the car's behavior made a good impression this morning.
But there were more problems in qualifying for the sprint, and, of course, together with the team we need to analyze a number of points. In any case, we hope that we will be able to prepare well for tomorrow's sprint."
