Max Verstappen started from pole position in Miami, but finished fourth and failed to reach the podium at this track for the first time. After the race, the reigning world champion said that he was far from fighting for victory.
His Red Bull Racing teammate Yuki Tsunoda received a 5-second penalty for speeding in the pit lane. The Japanese rider finished tenth and retained his position after adding penalty seconds to his time, but the advantage in the protocol over Isaac Hajjar was only 0.168 seconds.
Max Verstappen (4th): "I tried my best and got into a good position at the start. I tried to put up a fight in the race and had a lot of fun, but I couldn't keep the McLaren drivers behind. Then I got a little unlucky with the moment when the virtual safety car mode was turned on.
In the end, it doesn't really matter if you're third or fourth in a situation where your goal is to win the race. Today we were very far from achieving such a result. In addition, we had serious problems with the brakes throughout the weekend, which were very unstable.

Yuki Tsunoda (10th): "In the last ten laps of the race, my former team-mate made my life very difficult. Isaac seriously increased his speed, but I also attacked, and that was enough to stay ahead.
It was a difficult race, but I did what I had to do. The penalty didn't make it easier for me, but I'm glad I was able to score one point. On the other hand, I'm unhappy that we, as a team, didn't have the pace this weekend. We have to figure out the reasons."
