'Towriss: No urgency to sign a driver like Perez'
"We're not in a hurry"
Dan Towriss, a key figure in the upcoming 2026 Cadillac F1 team, emphasizes that the team is in "no rush" to sign Sergio Perez. The recently dismissed Red Bull driver, who was in Miami over the weekend alongside his billionaire Mexican sponsor Carlos Slim and Towriss, became the subject of speculation regarding a supposed three-year contract. However, that information turned out to be inaccurate.
"We're in no rush," stated Towriss, CEO of TWG Motorsports, which took on co-ownership after Michael Andretti stepped back late last year. Names such as Valtteri Bottas, Guanyu Zhou, and American Indycar star Colton Herta are among those being considered, but team principal Graeme Lowdon noted that many others are still in the mix.
"We're taking our time," Towriss reaffirmed. "Several names currently in circulation are indeed on our list."
