New Russian racing equipment will be shown at the REC stage.
On May 24, the first stage of the Russian Endurance Racing (REC) series, the Auto Mail Grand Prix, will start at Moscow Raceway near Moscow. The number of participants in the first four-hour stage of the season has increased by a third compared to last year.
GT class cars and sport prototypes are traditional participants in multi–hour marathons, and the new REC season will feature three technical innovations in the sport prototype class from Moscow design bureaus.
The FDR12 sport prototype from Moscow Polytechnic University
The sports prototype will be presented at the start of the first REC stage at Moscow Raceway. The students developed Russia's first FDR12 sports prototype with a hybrid power plant and a self-made supporting structure made of composite materials.
Vladimir Miklushevsky, Rector of Moscow Polytechnic University: "The prototype that we are presenting today should dispel the established opinion that Russia cannot produce its own cars. The world's leading manufacturers use such vehicles in order to test the most advanced technologies, which are then used on production vehicles. That's our goal."
The FDR12 sports prototype will hold a demonstration race at the first stage of the REC, and the Moscow Polytechnic University student team is set to exhibit the car at the start of the stages in June and July.
Technical characteristics of the FDR12:
The maximum estimated speed is 270 km/h.,
The combined power of the power plant is up to 420 hp (internal combustion engine - 340 hp, electric motor – 80 hp),
the maximum torque of the internal combustion engine is 310 Nm at 8000 rpm.
Curb weight - 750 kg,
The dimensions are 4558×1955× 1047 mm.
The supporting structure of the car is made of composite materials – carbon fiber with aluminum honeycomb filling.
The car consists of 70% domestic components, most of them are produced at the facilities of the Moscow Polytechnic University.
26 people worked on the project, 80% of them were students of the Moscow Polytechnic University and masters of the Advanced Engineering School of Electric Transport. The team included representatives from different faculties.
The Seven sports prototype from the Moscow Design Bureau 7
The second novelty of the REC season will be the CN3500 class sports prototype of the Moscow Design Bureau 7. The Seven Sports prototype will hold its first demonstration race at the second stage of the series on June 28 at Moscow Raceway.
Technical specifications:
Naturally aspirated 3.5 liter V6 Toyota engine
Power – 350 hp
Transmission - sequential Gearset
Weight – 700 kg
Denis Abramovich, project manager: "We got the idea to create an "adult" sports prototype when we rode our first REC race in 2015 on our Shortcut. In 2025, we will test a pre-production prototype for the subsequent release of the first batch."
The Marussia GT will also participate in the Russian Endurance Racing Series in a modified version.
Igor Ermilin, founder of REC, racing car designer: "The whole purpose of this series is to encourage Russian design bureaus, and especially student teams of technical institutes, to develop racing technology to educate personnel for the auto racing industry, as well as the automotive industry as a whole. Engineering developments of new technology is what the audience likes most about car racing in our country."
Currently, Ferrari 488, Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo, Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992), Mercedes AMG GT3, Mercedes AMG GT4, AUDI RS3LMS, as well as Ligier js53 evo2, Mini Cooper F46 and others have been announced to participate in the first stage of the REC.
The race on May 24 at Moscow Raceway will begin with a presentation on the starting grid of historical replicas of cars created for the Battle of Motors sports complex and the FDR 12 sports prototype of the Moscow Polytechnic Institute.
Entrance for the audience: 14:30
Start of the pre-launch procedure: 16:30
The finish of the Auto Mail Grand Prix will traditionally take place at night.
