Oscar Piastri: I will take this experience into account!

Oscar Piastri retains championship lead, but disappointed with third place in Imola…

Q: Oscar, what emotions do you feel after the race?Oscar Piastri: I'm a little disappointed. It can't be a good day if you start from pole position and finish third. So yeah, it wasn't the best day.

It all started in the first corner, which I didn't drive perfectly, then there was a hitch at the pit stop. The race didn't turn out the way we expected at the beginning of the first leg. Considering that the rivals had fresher tires at the end, the podium is a good result. There are difficult days during the season, and this is one of them. All I'm asking is that you draw the right conclusions.

Question: Let's go back to the first corner. Did Max surprise you?Oscar Piastri: Yes. I thought everything was under control, but Max maneuvered well. I will take this experience into account and use it in the future.

At that moment, I wasn't too worried about losing the lead, but as the race progressed, our pace wasn't as high as I expected. This influenced the result.

Q: You were one of the first to make a pit stop on lap 13. Did you realize at that moment that you were going to have to make two pit stops?Oscar Piastri: Not quite. At that moment, many people started having problems, including me. We discussed everything and made this decision. Maybe we were too hasty. We need to sort everything out again.

Q: You reached the podium in Monaco last year. Do you like this race?Oscar Piastri: Yes. I like racing in Monaco. Last year's weekend was a success, I hope I can achieve more this time. It will be interesting to see how these tires, and we will use the same compounds, will behave in completely different conditions in Monaco. In a race with two mandatory pit stops. We'll see. But I'm sure we'll be quick.

Q: Based on the experience gained this weekend, will you act differently in the first corner from now on?Oscar Piastri: Yes. Now I would have braked ten meters later. Live forever, learn forever!
