Charles Leclair stayed close behind Lando Norris' McLaren throughout the Monaco Grand Prix, but did not wait for the opportunity to overtake, which is quite common for a narrow and winding urban highway. As a result, the Ferrari driver took 2nd place on his home track, finishing a little over three seconds after the winner.

Frederic Vasseur, the head of the Italian team, was of course happy for his driver, but he did not hide that he expected a repeat of last year's success, when Charles won a home race for the first time in his career.

Frederic Wasser: "Overall, we can be happy with the result, because the team did everything in their power, especially considering how difficult it is to overtake here. It seemed that after Imola we would not be able to be competitive in Monaco, but after what we saw during training, we expected a better result.

But since Lewis Hamilton was fined, it also didn't help matters, because in fact only one of our cars faced two McLarens, which created some difficulties.

However, Charles did an excellent job, kept the situation under control, constantly pressed Lando, while Lewis also showed a steady pace and was able to climb to 5th position, after which, by the thirtieth or thirty-fifth lap, he ran into traffic and could no longer drive as fast as the riders of the leading group. It was because of this that he lost his pace, there were no other reasons. The penalty was the only thing that ruined his weekend in Monaco.

We've taken a step forward recently with faster cornering, and this weekend we were able to make progress on a slow track, which is encouraging. In order for this trend to continue, we must work even harder, fully focusing on our own tasks.

If we talk about how the new rule of two pit stops affected the course of the race, then the situation is very difficult. From my point of view, the riders of different teams used too many strange tricks to slow down others. We have yet to discuss this with the FIA in order to find a better solution to the problem."
