Pirelli completed a series of prototype tire tests for 2026 at Silverstone – this week, specially developed cars and drivers from Aston Martin and Sauber participated.

On the second day of testing, the tire specialists focused on comparing different construction options of the three hardest compounds, C1, C2, and C3. In the morning, the drivers completed several short runs, and in the afternoon, they switched to long-distance testing.

Lance Stroll drove the test car based on the Aston Martin AMR25. The Canadian completed 126 laps with the best time of 1:30.195. Gabriel Bortoleto once again took the wheel of the Sauber C45, completing 110 laps with a best time of 1:33.188.

Gabriel Bortoleto: "It’s been a very productive and positive two days of testing, allowing me to cover a significant distance at Silverstone. I would like to thank the team and Pirelli for this opportunity.

We fully completed the program, everything went smoothly. We gained initial impressions of the 2026 tires and provided feedback to Pirelli. I liked these tires; they offer better acceleration dynamics than this year's rubber."

Mario Isola, Pirelli Motorsport Director: "We are in a decisive phase of the 2026 tire development; at Silverstone, we nearly finished working on their design. Now, as usual, we will analyze everything and draw conclusions before homologation, which is scheduled for early September.

Additionally, we were able to compare the most likely options for the hard compounds on a track with high tire stress.

We still have time to complete this work, considering that the deadline set by regulations is November. We will conduct additional tests starting with the Hungaroring sessions on August 5 and 6, right after the Hungarian Grand Prix. There will also be three more sessions in Monza, Mugello, and Mexico City, which will help us make the final decision."
