Pierre Gasly: In 2026, we will have the best chance.
Alpine points this year are only earned so far by Pierre Gasly. On Thursday at Spa, he positively appraised the first half of the season but regretted that the car lacks speed.
Pierre Gasly: "I've always said: if you want better results, give me a more powerful car, and I will be able to compete for the win. Of course, sixth place doesn't bring the same satisfaction as a podium or a race win. Nevertheless, I know what I'm working for and I know my goal.
Handling this car is difficult. One lap on fresh tires at a crucial moment allows it to go fast, but over the distance, the tires slip and wear out quickly. Over a long race, we simply can't maintain the same pace as in qualifying, so we often fall back during the race.
There are races where I perform excellently but finish fifteenth, and this goes unnoticed. But over the years, I've understood—this is the nature of this sport. You need to work hard, staying in the shadows, so that one day these efforts will be rewarded.
Next year, the regulations will change. I understand that this is our best chance—myself and the team—to truly fight for leadership. That’s what we need to focus on."
