Verstappen raises concerns about the 2026 regulations and expresses interest in Le Mans following his F1 career.
"A hypercar for sure"
Max Verstappen has shared his thoughts on his future, his frustrations, and his Nurburgring laps in a rare in-depth interview with Chris Harris from Top Gear. During a track day driving a Ford RS200 and Mustang GTD, the four-time World Champion expressed that the new 2026 F1 regulations do not excite him. "From the outside, personally it doesn’t look as the most exciting," Verstappen mentioned. "But let’s see. Maybe honestly like it is fun."
He also confirmed his long-speculated interest in high-level endurance racing following his Formula 1 career. "I really want to do all of them," he said, mentioning Le Mans, Sebring, and Daytona. "A hypercar for sure… maybe the other ones, you want to probably do it in the fastest category."
Recently, he tested under the pseudonym "Franz Hermann" and shared his lap times from a Nurburgring VLN session: "First lap out was a 7:56, then a 7:54, and with new tyres, we achieved a 7:48."
Regarding track walks, he stated, "I never do it anymore. My out lap is my track walk. Walking for about five to seven kilometers - it’s just boring."
Verstappen also minimized the idea that Red Bull's sharp front end perfectly matches his driving style. "It’s not what I like. It’s just what I have. So I better try and drive to it."
Concluding the session, he admitted, "I normally don’t really enjoy the media stuff, but I thought this was a lot of fun."
