Boss dismisses MotoGP team sale to Steiner as 'false information.'
Herve Poncharal, the head of Tech3, has refuted claims that he has sold his MotoGP team to former F1 team principal Guenther Steiner, describing the rumors as "absolute fake news." Last week, numerous reports suggested that the 60-year-old Steiner would take over Tech3 with support from the US investment group Apex in a deal exceeding 20 million euros. However, Poncharal clarified to the Italian site GPOne.com that no agreement has been reached. "They are talking, as you know. But nothing was signed!" he emphasized. "I’ve never hidden the fact that discussions are happening. However, I am quite frustrated by these new rumors and speculations." Although Poncharal acknowledges that some negotiations are underway, he is still at the helm of the KTM-supported Tech3 team, with no anticipated changes until 2027. Steiner, a prominent figure following his tenure at Haas, continues to enjoy popularity due to his appearance on Netflix. With MotoGP now under the ownership of Liberty Media, some see his involvement as a part of a larger effort to infuse F1-style commercial dynamics into the motorcycle racing scene.
