At the Dutch round of the Formula 1 championship a new safety car made its debut – the Aston Martin Vantage S. As the British team reports, "the legendary line of S-series sports models are the fastest versions of the Vantage coupe ever created by the company…"

The new safety car is equipped with a 4.0-litre V8 engine producing 680 hp and 800 Nm of torque, which enables the car to accelerate to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, and its top speed reaches 325 km/h.

The safety car has received a revised aerodynamic body kit, including a new rear spoiler, which helps achieve optimal balance, stable on-track behaviour and excellent handling. These qualities will be appreciated by Bernd Mayländer, the FIA's regular safety car driver, while the drivers will notice the upgraded light signalling panels – they should be more visible in low-visibility conditions.

"Presenting the Vantage S as the official safety car is another step towards showcasing the dynamic capabilities of the Vantage sports cars," Mayländer said. "It will allow me to react even faster and act safely when we are ordered to go out onto the track. I am pleased to be one of the first to take the wheel of the Vantage S, and I am already looking forward to working on one of the best circuits in the world."

The safety car is painted in the same colour as the Aston Martin F1 team's cars, and will be used at races alongside the sporty all-wheel-drive Aston Martin DBX707 crossover, the FIA's official medical car.
