Colapinto: We were hampered by traffic and red flags.
Franco Colapinto posted the ninth-fastest time in second practice at Zandvoort. His team-mate Pierre Gasly was nineteenth on the timing sheet, but said the result does not reflect the car’s pace.
Franco Colapinto (9th): “Not a bad day in which we managed to make good progress with the car. It’s quick over one lap and stable with a full tank. We tried a few solutions that added a bit of pace, so the team can be pleased with Friday at Zandvoort.
During the sessions we were hindered by traffic and red flags. The team will keep preparing for qualifying because we want to achieve a better balance. We also need to work on the car’s stability on Soft tyres with low fuel to make its behaviour more predictable.
This evening the team will follow the usual programme, and I think we can improve in qualifying.”
Pierre Gasly (19th): “Great to be back behind the wheel at Zandvoort. Today the running was constantly interrupted by red flags in both sessions. Nevertheless, we managed to get a decent impression of the car’s behaviour.
In second practice I was pleased with the car’s behaviour on Soft tyres, but due to traffic I couldn’t post a representative time. We still need to work on the balance, but we have a good base to build on.
Some rivals are out of our reach, but we don’t really know where we stand. Our task is to set the car up correctly and get the most out of it. We’ll see where we end up tomorrow when it matters.”
