Norris: I'd like the advantage to be clearer.

Friday's timesheet in Monza was topped by Lando Norris, while his McLaren teammate, Oscar Piastri, set the fourth-best time. In addition, the Australian was summoned to the stewards because at one point in the second session he left the pits a little earlier than he should have. But it wasn't intentional, rather due to a misunderstanding, so it ended with a warning.

Lando Norris (1st): "At this stage of the weekend we weren't expecting to be a second faster than everyone, but still I'd like our advantage to be a bit more obvious. Overall things are going reasonably well, but we still need to work on some aspects and achieve certain improvements. We're working on finding the optimal setup, and I was hoping to improve in the second session, but the times remain very close. In general, we need to try to secure a more significant advantage, then I'll feel a bit more comfortable."

Oscar Piastri (4th): "I have to speak to the stewards, but I think we just misjudged the situation. We were confused by a message that appeared on the timing system, and we went out a little earlier than we should have. But I'm not worried about it; it will probably just be a warning or something like that. I'd be surprised if I received a penalty.

During the session the seat under me was overheating, but that's nothing unusual, although its temperature was a bit higher than I'd like. But overall the day went well, considering I missed the first session, so I had to make up for it in the second.

The car feels pretty good, although maybe we didn't quite hit the optimal setup when we went out on the soft tyres. But on the second lap on the same set of tyres I posted a fairly decent time. Overall I'm feeling pretty good, and tomorrow I just need to find a bit more.

As for the balance of power, it's somewhat surprising, because the Williams drivers were very confident in both sessions. We'll see if they can stay at that level tomorrow, but I think the results this weekend will be very tight."
