A female racing driver has put forward her candidacy for the post of FIA president.

      Swiss racer Lora Villars has announced her candidacy for the FIA presidency election to be held at the end of the year. She thus became the third candidate after former FIA steward Tim Mayer and incumbent president Mohammed Ben Sulayem.

      The 28-year-old Villars began her motorsport career in 2023 by competing in Formula 4 in the UAE. In 2024 she finished fourteenth in Formula 4 in Saudi Arabia and became champion in the Ferrari Europe body championship in the amateur women's category. In 2025 she continued her career in the Ligier Euro body series, where she scored two points over seven races.

      Lora Villars, who is also an entrepreneur, explained the reason for her candidacy in a short press release: "The FIA must once again become a federation of clubs and license holders. My goal is more democratic, transparent, responsible governance, open to women and young people. I firmly believe that motorsport needs diversity and innovation to continue to inspire the younger generation around the world."

      In her manifesto Villars highlighted five key points:

      - Empowering national clubs through regular consultations and governance with public engagement;

      - Increasing transparency in finances and decision-making;

      - Introducing an FIA Eco-Performance label to recognize leadership in sustainability;

      - Developing a "Women in Motorsport" program and creating an FIA Young Leaders Academy;

      - Positioning the FIA as a global benchmark in sustainable mobility and road safety.
