Crawford debuts in Formula 1 during practice in Mexico.

The Aston Martin team said that young driver Jack Crawford will make his Formula 1 debut during the first Friday practice of the Mexican Grand Prix.

The 20-year-old Texan, who is currently second in Formula 2, will temporarily replace Lance Stroll at the wheel of the AMR25.

Jack Crawford: “I am very excited that next week in Mexico I will be able to take part in my first official Formula 1 session at the wheel of the AMR25. I have worked closely with the team throughout the year and am ready to take the next step. I am glad the team announced my upcoming debut specifically in Texas, where I am from.”

Andy Cowell, team principal: “It’s great that we can give Jack the opportunity to sit behind the wheel in the first practice in Mexico. He has shown real maturity and has provided us with valuable technical feedback throughout the year.

Jack has had a strong season in Formula 2 and has made a key contribution to the development of both the AMR25 and AMR26. For him, this is an excellent opportunity to continue his progress while also helping us gather valuable data.”
