Piastri sent a video message to a young fan.

Exactly three weeks ago, Oscar Piastri crashed his car even before the start of his home race in Melbourne and, of course, was unable to participate, which greatly disappointed Australian fans, but not all the consequences of this incident became known immediately.

But we need to start with events from 11 years ago. The fact is that on March 15, 2015, young Oscar was supposed to stand on the starting grid of the Australian Grand Prix next to the Red Bull RB11 with the number 26, which was driven by Daniil Kvyat. However, the Russian driver's car had a gearbox failure, and he also did not start.

Therefore, Piastri understands well how upset the boy was, who was entrusted to stand next to the car of the Australian driver McLaren during the pre-race ceremonies, but this was not meant to happen.

However, Oscar decided to at least comfort the young fan a little and sent him a personal video message.

"I think back then (in 2015) Kvyat's car also broke down on the way to the starting grid, so you could say the outcome was exactly the same," Piastri said. "Unfortunately, I couldn't meet that boy, although it was planned, but I reached out to him and sent him a video. But I agree that it was a strange coincidence when, 11 years later, the exact same story repeated itself."

It should be added that in the next round in Shanghai, none of the McLaren cars were able to start the race due to technical problems.
