Verstappen's crew was stripped of victory in the NLS2 race.

Max Verstappen's crew crossed the finish line first in the 4-hour NLS2 race at the Nürburgring's "Nordschleife," but was subsequently disqualified. It turned out that Max and his teammates used seven sets of tires on race day instead of the allowed six. This means that the issue was not only about the race itself but also about other events that took place on the preceding Saturday. Christian Hoenadel, the head of Winward Racing, acknowledged that this was due to a mistake made by the team: "I would like to apologize to everyone who supported us." According to Verstappen, the disqualification was the result of a certain set of circumstances that developed even before the race started: "In the morning during qualifying, the team, as usual, practiced driver changes and tire replacements several times. During this process, a mistake was made that ultimately led to the disqualification." This was also acknowledged by Stefan Wendl, the head of customer racing programs at Mercedes AMG: "This weekend we are unlikely to forget soon – the race was held in an interesting battle, accompanied by an incredible atmosphere, and at first, we experienced the joy of victory. Our disappointment is even greater since a mistake was made behind the scenes of this event, leading to the disqualification, which is frustrating..." Verstappen participated in this race to qualify for the May "24 Hours of Nürburgring" marathon, but he has the opportunity to start in the next round of the NLS series, as the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix scheduled for April had to be canceled. Thus, the victory in yesterday's race went to the Rowe BMW team crew, which included Jordan Pepper and Dan Harper.
