Sainz celebrates his friend's victory in the Milan-San Remo cycling race.
Yesterday, a cycling race took place in Italy along the route Milan – San Remo, which is one of the traditional road cycling races with a very rich history, as it was first held back in 1907.
It usually takes place on the third Saturday of March; it is considered the longest one-day European cycling race, in which professional athletes participate – its distance is 298 km.
Yesterday, Carlos Sainz also traveled to Italy with friends – however, not to compete in this event, although he enjoys and actively engages in cycling training.
In this race, his good friend – the famous Slovenian cyclist Tadej Pogačar – participated for the first time, and Carlos arrived in San Remo hoping to witness his success. Moreover, he was to fulfill an honorary mission – to present the winner with a well-deserved prize, and one can imagine how delighted he was when Pogačar overtook the British rider Tom Pidcock in the final meters of the distance and ultimately reached the top of the podium.
“He did it after all! He won, and we saw it!” – joyfully commented the Williams driver, who sometimes trains with Pogačar, a four-time winner of the Tour de France.
