Citroën Racing will stay in Formula E for a long time.
The management of Citroën, the famous French company that is part of the Stellantis group, has confirmed that its factory team will continue to compete in the World Championship for electric car racing in the coming years, as Formula E transitions to 4th generation technology (GEN4).
Citroën Racing, formed from the Maserati team, made its debut in the electric series only this season, but Nick Cassidy reached the podium in the very first race held in São Paulo, and won the second race in Mexico City, meaning a serious claim was made right from the start. Cassidy also confirmed his speed last weekend in Madrid, winning pole position, although he was unable to score points in the race due to an unfortunate strategy.
A press conference was also held at the Circuito de Madrid Jarama with representatives from Citroën's management, where it was announced that participation in Formula E is part of the company's strategic plans.
Xavier Chardon, CEO of Citroën: "At Citroën, we believe that innovations must meet real-life needs. Thanks to Formula E, which is transitioning to GEN4 technology, we are using efficient electric technologies to achieve progress on a daily basis.
Motorsport has always been part of our company's DNA, and we are proud to fully participate in creating a new chapter in the history of Formula E. We see this championship as the ideal platform for our project, which, on one hand, is modest, but on the other, our team sets ambitious goals."
After six races of the season, Citroën Racing is in 5th place in the team standings. It is worth noting that in three years, the French company will celebrate its 110th anniversary.
