Pirelli has announced the tire compounds for Miami and Montreal.
The next two Grands Prix – in Miami and Montreal – will take place in a format with a Saturday sprint and using the softest Pirelli tire compounds. On both tracks, the compounds C3, C4, and C5 will be labeled Hard, Medium, and Soft.
On the very smooth asphalt of the track around the stadium in Miami, tires mainly wear out due to overheating, and last year, when the compounds were nominally the same, the wear was very minimal, allowing drivers to actively attack from start to finish.
In Canada, the asphalt is also not very abrasive, and the weather is less hot, although quite changeable. The three softest compounds will provide the necessary grip. Last year, most drivers used a two-stop strategy with Hard and Medium tires over the distance.
