Chevy announced on Monday that the Corvette Grand Sport will reappear in showrooms later this year, starting at a price of $88,495. This might be hard for Grand Sport aficionados to accept, considering the last C7 model was available for under $70,000 back in its final year. However, it’s worth noting that this was nearly a decade ago, and the economic landscape has changed significantly since then.

Specifically, the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport is approximately $15,000 pricier than the standard C8 Stingray, which starts at $73,495. Both models are equipped with Chevy's new 535-horsepower LS6 V8 engine, so the distinctions mainly lie in the chassis. The Grand Sport features a suspension tune that closely resembles the Z51 package found in the base Stingray and can be configured with either Michelin Pilot Sport all-season or summer tires. Additionally, the summer tire and Z06 brake package can be added to the standard Grand Sport for an extra $3,500.

Traditionally, the Grand Sport has excelled on the track, and the new model is anticipated to uphold this reputation. The Track Performance Package includes Z06-style Carbon aerodynamics components, an improved suspension setup, a quad center-exit exhaust system, carbon ceramic brakes, and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires. While it comes at a cost of $109,190, it remains over $10,000 less than an actual Z06 priced at $121,395. Would you opt for a $10,000 savings and forgo the carbon components in favor of that flat-plane crank V8? That could be a tempting decision.

One of the most intriguing points from Chevy’s announcement was about the pricing of the new Grand Sport X. When it was first revealed, we noted that this all-wheel-drive hybrid would be replacing the E-Ray. It turns out we were more accurate than we initially thought. Priced at $112,195, the Grand Sport X is effectively the same price as the outgoing E-Ray, despite receiving a significant upgrade to 712 horsepower for 2027.

You can also add summer tires for just $500. Unless you require two sets, it's advisable to go for that option; the Michelins will outperform anything you might buy aftermarket for three to four times the price.

Both the Grand Sport and Grand Sport X will come as convertibles, following Corvette tradition. The starting price for the standard Grand Sport with a folding hardtop is $95,495, while the X begins at $119,195—still less expensive than the Z06. So, what does your heart desire? The high-RPM V8 roar or hybrid torque?
