Red Bull and Honda signed a contract for engine supply.
Red Bull and Honda have signed a contract for the supply of power units for the Red Bull Racing and Racing Bulls teams over the next two years.
This concerns the supply of last-generation power units for cars from previous years, which both teams of the Austrian concern plan to use as part of the TPC (Testing of a Previous Car) program. This program allows for unlimited testing with Formula 1 cars, provided they are at least two years old.
In 2026, Red Bull Racing and Racing Bulls will use power units co-developed with Ford, but they are not suitable for cars from previous years, so the teams had to negotiate with their former supplier – Honda.
Negotiations have been ongoing since last December, and the parties struggled to agree on the contract price. However, according to GPBlog, an agreement has been reached and is set for two years.
In 2028, the teams will be able to use their own power units when the 2026 cars fall under the TPC program.
