Dorian Pin is the first female driver to pilot a Mercedes F1.
Today, Dorian Pin made history by becoming the first female driver to pilot a car for the Mercedes team, as well as the first representative of French motorsport to gain such experience. Dorian is the reigning champion of the women's F1 Academy series, she is part of the Mercedes youth program, and on Saturday in Silverstone, the 22-year-old Frenchwoman was behind the wheel of the W12, a 2021 car, as part of the TPC (Testing of a Previous Car) program. Dorian has been collaborating with Mercedes since 2024 and has received official status as a development driver this season, including working on the simulator at the team's base in Brackley and attending some Grands Prix. And today, the next step was taken – she got behind the wheel of a real Formula 1 car.
"Dorian dreamed of this moment, and now she has become the first woman to drive a Mercedes-AMG F1 Team car!" – the team announced on their social media pages. The car she tested in Silverstone was driven by Lewis Hamilton in 2021 – by the way, the seven-time world champion congratulated Dorian on her debut tests, leaving a short comment: "Great job! I loved it." The current Mercedes drivers were also present at today's tests, supporting Dorian, cheering her on, and offering her advice.
